WeedMapper
Download A Field Map
WeedMapper must first download a Field Map image via The Internet before it's mapping functions can be used.
Field Map images are obtained by using the Microsoft TerraServer .NET Web Service from within the WeedMapper application. TerraServer is a free service providing easy searching and downloading of aerial imagery. The aerial photos are derived from the USGS Digital Ortho-Quadrangles (DOQ). These are gray-scale, 1-meter resolution photos ortho-rectified to 1-meter square pixels.
WeedMapper Desktop downloads these images based on the Latitude/Longitude of your field. You then save the image to your computer as a Bitmap file and WeedMapper constructs another data file containing information to geo-reference your Field Map image.

The first step when working with a new Field Map is defining a Field Boundary. Once the Field Boundary has been established you will not need to draw it again. There are 2 methods you may use to define a Field Boundary:

Next you define a "Layer". A "Layer" in WeedMapper defines a certain cropping period. A Field may have many "Layers".
A Layer consists of a Crop, Crop Growth Stage, and Date. A Layer also contains "Patches". Just as a Field can contain many Layers, a Layer may contain many Patches.
Next difine your weed patches. There are 2 methods you may use to define a Patch:

Record data about your weed patch.

You may view all weed patches for a field.
- Field Layers are overlayed on the Field Map
- Click a Patch in the Tree View control in the upper left of the window to select a Patch. The selected Layer is outlined in blue on the Field Map and the selected Patch is filled with blue dots.
- Information at the bottom left reflects the currently selected Patch.
- Click either the "Print Current Layer" or "Print All Layers" button to Print WeedMapper Reports.
